Deanna Skillman

Born and raised in Montana, Deanna Skillman grew up ranching across the wide open spaces of the American West. That landscape, and the family photographs of ranch life that documented it, became the foundation of her art.

Largely self-taught, Deanna has pursued her practice alongside raising a family, running a business, and building community. In 2017 she founded Deanna's Traveling Canvas, a mobile sip-and-paint enterprise that embedded her and her family into the Greybull, Wyoming community. In 2020, she and her husband Robert opened Bob's Diner and Bakery in Greybull, which also became her first dedicated gallery space for her own work and works by fellow regional artists.

In 2022, Deanna co-founded the Big Horn County Arts Guild, a grassroots effort to grow Greybull's arts economy and amplify local artists, serving as its president from 2021 to 2024. In February 2025, she opened Deanna Skillman Fine Art at Skillman Art Productions, her first private gallery, where her work is on permanent display.

Deanna works in acrylic, oil, graphite, and pen and ink. Her subjects, working ranch cowboys, Native Americans, dreamcatchers, and abstract war horse compositions, are rendered through the lens of abstract expressionism from real-life sources.

She is based in Greybull, Wyoming.
